Breast Reduction Surgery Not all its Cracked up to be. · Apr 7, 08:06 PM by DrTechnical

In a recent survey of post operative patients conducted one to two years after surgery the results were not very promising. Of the 134 women questioned:

12% Were happy with the original surgery.
14% Were happy after additional operations to correct shape.
28% Had paid for further treatment to reduce scarring.
41% Said if they had known the outcome of surgery they would never have had the work done.
4% Were trying to sue their surgeons.

In addition:

82% Reported significant loss of sensitivity.
70% Reported a negative impact on their sex life.

Comparing this with a similar Breast Augmentation study involving 220 women conducted six months previously where

74% Were happy with the original surgery.
18% Were happy after additional operations to correct shape.
6% Had paid for additional treatment to reduce scarring.
0% Say they would not have had the work done
1% Were trying to sue their surgeons.

And

1% Reported significant loss of sensitivity.
1% Reported a negative impact on their sex life.

It is obvious that breast reduction surgery technology still has a long way to go, and that any woman contemplating this route should only go that way after long and hard thought.
